The 2-4-1 special has me hooked.

Not as... exciting as Badlands. But that's a good thing! If you get here early enough, you not only get double your drink but also have space to meet and mingle in the back patio before dancing up a storm!

Badlands II - without the nervous twinks

The atmosphere resembles Badlands (with the non-stop videos), but there's more variety, and a more casual feel here, especially on the smoking-optional patio -- which can be quite friendly... A decent place to dance -- before it gets too crowded.

I think the new bar is fun and modern. The stucture of the bar area is great and I like the back area as well. Of course the first and only time I have been here is when Bebe Zahara Benet & Tammie Brown came to perform. So I can't say how great it is any other night but I had a total blast that night! Seems like there was no attitudes among the patrons which always makes my time a better time!

Don't smoke but I still love the patio

When our regular haunt (The Cafe) closed for remodeling, Toad Hall opened not long thereafter. I love the patio in the back where smokers and their friends can sit around tall wooden cabaret tables. One of the best happy hours in the Castro (though I find it odd that the drink prices vary depending on the mixers -- vodka soda is cheaper than a vodka cranberry). When I want to hang out with my friends for a happy hour drink, this is our favorite place to go.

More of an older crowd and just not happening

I am vacationing from L.A. to San Francisco Monday to Wednesday and I would say skip this club because it is more for the older folks. I did not see one 20-something there. But if you are into older folks from 40-60, this is your bar/club. You will most likely to have more fun than that of the younger crowd. Also, there was no energy in the music that they played, but the good thing is that there are not much smokers, but I still say skip it. Just being honest. Nothing special about the decor either.
