Cinch Saloon

(17 Ratings)
Old-guard meets Star Wars

The Cinch is the perfect place to bring old friends, and make new ones. Plus you can catch some of the city's most beloved queens here. The last remainder of San Francisco's forgotten gayborhood, the Cinch still pays homage to its Old Guard roots but is no longer just for leather daddies.

Fun, friendly neighborhood bar

Since moving here we have enjoyed going to the Cinch, esp. on Sundays. Friday and Saturdays are packed with an array of gays, lesbians, drag queens, and gay friendly straights. The staff is friendly. Jim, Ed, Mikey are great. There are always fund raisers, contests and food. The back patio is a great feature. I would definitely recommend this joint.

The Cinch: RIP

No longer the the laid-back, comfortable & friendly atmosphere. A once truely neighborhood bar, is now another Castro satellite bar--on weekends especially, with all the attitude, too many "fabulous" patrons who have an apparent "in" with the new management. Saturday night's "Spunk" features performers performing for each other, primarily. Kind of pathetic. Bring back the pool tables, dump the house music, and bring in management who can treat all patrons with equal respect and welcome the diversity that had always made this place unique.

feel like out of place....

don't let them fool you with the other review. this bar is not really open-minded. look like mostly straight than few gays. i'd rather go to castro. if you're asian, don't go this one. some of them are not comfortable with asians and they don't look happy or even not friendly when asians comes in. find another one or at 8 club or Ntouch.

Great place to relax and be yourself!

The Cinch is a local bar where most of its guest are regulars however it's "anyone is welcome" attitude makes for a great place to meet new and less than ordinary people, you can also just sit back and do some people watching (there is alway plenty to see), play some pool or pinball, or just get drunk and catch a taxi home!
